In early 2008 I finally worked out how to use Cubase; or rather I finally took the time to work it out. Not coming from the generation that grew up knowing how to switch on a laptop the only way I knew how to record was with a cassette recorder - PRESS PLAY and RECORD!
That was back then with Malice Virus (1983 – 1986); a legend in our own rehearsal room. Having kidded myself for years that the band might get back together (an unlikely proposition with me living in Austria), or that one day I would find other like-minded musicians over here (computer says ‘no’), I realised I was just bullshitting myself. Nobody likes me – I don’t care.
So I figured I’d do it all myself. At the back end of 2006 I bought a synthesiser; then a bass guitar, an electric semi-acoustic and finally on of those Roland V-drum kits you can play through the headphones. I still don’t really know how to process the sounds on the computer and I’m too lazy or too busy to overdub the mistakes, so a lot of these are very rough and scraggy versions of songs that will one day (in my fantasy world) blow your minds!
